Earth Hour Day 2013 By Dr. Arvind Kumar Earth Hour is a worldwide event that is organized by the  World Wide Fund for Nature  (WWF) and is held on the last Saturday of March annually, encouraging households and businesses to turn off their non-essential  lights  for one hour to  raise awareness  about the need to take action on  climate change . Earth Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million individuals and more than 2,000 businesses turned their lights off for one hour to take a stand against climate change. Only a year later and Earth Hour had become a global sustainability movement with more than 50 million people across 35 countries/territories participating. Global landmarks such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge, CN Tower in Toronto, Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, and Rome’s Colosseum, all stood in darkness, as symbols of hope for a cause that grows more urgent by the hour. World Water Day By Dr. Arvind Kumar 22nd March each year is observed as World Water Day by virtue of the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution of 22 December 1992 by which 22 March of each year was declared World Day for Water, to be observed starting in 1993, in conformity with the recommendations of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). World Water Day 2013 is being celebrated under the theme Water Cooperation, within the framework of the United Nations International Year of Water Cooperation 2013, coordinated by UNESCO on behalf of UN Water. Water is a finite resource and is essential ingredient for life and socio-economic development: we need it for food production, energy, industrial and domestic uses. Freshwater is a vital element for human existence and all ecosystems on Earth. Water cooperation between different social groups, economic sectors, regional governments, countries, and present and future generations, is cru
