It refers to traditional physical and mental disciplines that originated in India. The word ‘yoga’ is associated with meditative practices in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. All yoga schools of thought lay stress on the importance of the mind remaining calm, because as the saying goes, only when the water is still can you see through it. The underlying idea of yoga is to unite the individual soul with the Universal Soul.
